Told it can’t be fixed? Bring it to us.
Most repair shops will tell you a dead motherboard means a new device. We don’t. Microscope soldering, BGA reflow, capacitor replacement, schematic-led diagnostic on laptop boards, phone logic boards, console boards and PC motherboards — from MacBook battery management ICs to PS5 HDMI ports.
The faults most shops won’t touch
Board-level work needs a microscope, hot air, schematics and real experience. We’ve got all four.
Laptop motherboards
Won’t turn on, won’t charge, no display, dead USB ports, dead Wi-Fi, liquid damage. MacBook, ThinkPad, Dell, HP — intermittent faults and component-level work.
Phone logic boards
iPhone and Samsung board repairs — bad U2 charging IC, audio IC, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth IC, baseband, NAND read for data. Restoring devices that Apple Genius Bar said were dead.
Console motherboards
PS5/PS4 HDMI port replacement, blue light of death, no boot, Xbox APU issues, Nintendo Switch board faults. Real soldering, not "send it to Sony."
Desktop & PC motherboards
Workstation boards, server boards, gaming PC mainboards. Failed capacitors, dead chipsets, BIOS recovery, intermittent boot failures.
Liquid damage recovery
Coffee in the keyboard, phone in the toilet, drink on the controller. We open, ultrasonic clean, deoxidise and treat corrosion at component level. Free initial assessment to see what’s salvageable.
BGA reflow & reballing
GPU artifacts, chipset failures, repeated overheating crashes. Reflow station and reballing kits for graphics chips on laptops, consoles and dedicated cards.
Capacitor & component replacement
Bulging caps, blown MOSFETs, dead resistors, failed inductors. Surface-mount work under microscope, traced from schematics where available.
Data recovery from dead boards
If the board can’t be revived but the storage is intact, we can chip-off or read NAND directly for data recovery. See our data recovery page.
Bring it to us if…
Apple or Sony or another shop has told you it’s beyond economic repair — and you suspect the device might still be worth saving. The original retail price was high enough that a board-level repair (typically a fraction of replacement cost) makes financial sense. There’s irreplaceable data on the device that you need recovered. Or it’s a vintage / sentimental device that simply can’t be replaced. Free initial assessment so you know where you stand before committing.
How a board-level repair gets handled
-
1
Get in touch first
WhatsApp or call. Tell us the device, symptoms, history — particularly anything that’s been tried already. We’ll let you know if it’s the kind of fault we typically take on.
-
2
Drop in or post
Bring it to our Mullingar shop or post tracked. Free initial assessment to confirm the failure mode and rule out simple causes.
-
3
In-depth diagnostic
Board-level diagnostic happens under microscope with multimeter, scope, schematics where available. This stage is charged separately — we’ll quote it after the initial assessment.
-
4
Quote
Once we’ve identified the fault, we’ll quote a fixed price for the full repair plus parts. You decide whether to proceed before we touch a soldering iron.
-
5
Repair
Microscope soldering, BGA reflow, hot air rework. Most board repairs take 5–10 working days from approval. Severely damaged boards or hard-to-source ICs can take longer.
-
6
Test & return
Bench-tested before return. 12-month warranty starts the day you receive it.
Real engineers, real equipment, honest odds.
Microscope & hot-air rework
Stereo microscope, hot-air rework station, BGA reflow kit, ultrasonic cleaning. Real workshop, not a phone-shop counter.
No fix, no fee
If we can’t bring it back, you don’t pay for the repair. You owe us for the in-depth diagnostic stage (which is always quoted upfront) plus return postage.
Honest odds
We’ll tell you up front whether the fault sounds high-odds, low-odds, or "barely worth trying." Some boards just aren’t recoverable; we’ll save you the diagnostic fee if it’s clearly hopeless.
12-month warranty
Every board repair backed for 12 months. If our work fails, we re-do it — or refund — no questions asked.
About board-level repairs
Apple said my MacBook isn’t economical to repair — should I bring it to you?
Probably yes. Apple’s policy is usually full board replacement, which can cost more than the device is worth. We do component-level repair on MacBook logic boards — battery management ICs, USB-C controllers, T2 chip issues, GPU reflow on older Pros. Free initial assessment so you know before committing.
Why is there a charge for the in-depth diagnostic?
Initial assessment (which fault category it falls into) is free. The in-depth diagnostic — opening the device, scoping voltage rails, tracing faults — takes bench time and equipment. We quote it upfront so there are no surprises. If you decide not to proceed with the repair after the diagnostic, you pay the diagnostic fee only.
What’s the success rate?
Varies hugely by fault type. Bad capacitor, dead USB-C IC, HDMI port — high odds, often 80–90%+. Liquid damage — depends on how long ago, what kind of liquid, how much corrosion. Severely shorted boards — sometimes recoverable, sometimes not. We’ll be honest after the initial assessment.
Will my data be intact after the repair?
For most board repairs, yes — the storage chip is separate from the board components we’re working on. For severe damage, board replacement, or NAND-related faults, data may not survive. We’ll always tell you upfront what the data risk is.
How long does it take?
Typical board repair 5–10 working days from approval. Hard-to-source ICs or severely damaged boards can take 2–4 weeks. We’ll give you an honest time estimate after the in-depth diagnostic.
Do you repair phone logic boards too?
Yes — iPhone (including Face ID dot projector retention where possible), Samsung Galaxy, Pixel. Charge IC, audio IC, Wi-Fi IC, baseband, NAND read. Tightly packed boards needing microscope work.
Can you fix Switch / PS5 / Xbox board faults?
Yes — HDMI port replacement on PS4/PS5, blue light of death, controller stick drift modules, Switch eMMC, Xbox APU board issues. Console board repair is one of our highest-volume areas.
What about industrial / commercial boards?
Yes — PLCs, drives, control panels and industrial electronics are a separate workflow. See our industrial electronics repair page.
Post your board / device in — insured, tracked.
For high-value boards (MacBook logic boards, vintage consoles, irreplaceable kit) we recommend insured tracked courier. We assess, diagnose, quote and repair — then return tracked.
- Free initial assessment
- Quoted in-depth diagnostic
- Fixed quote before repair
- 12-month repair warranty
- Bench-tested before return
