Every refurbished device sold in Ireland gets a grade, but how that grade is named varies wildly between sellers. We call them what they are — New, Grade A+, Grade A, Grade B, Grade C — so you know exactly what you’re buying before you click Add to Cart.
Grading is cosmetic only. Performance is identical across grades. Every grade carries the same 12-month warranty.
Before any grade is assigned
Our 40-point inspection
Every device goes through the same inspection by our in-house team in Mullingar before it gets graded. Worn parts are replaced. Faults are fixed. Then we test everything.
Battery health
Tested under load. Worn cells replaced. Phones over 85% original health pass; below that, the battery is swapped before sale.
Display
Pixel test, brightness, touch response, dead pixels, screen burn-in. Failed displays replaced with same-grade or better panels.
Top, bottom and earpiece speakers tested through full frequency range. Microphone tested in call recordings.
Buttons & switches
Power, volume, ringer, home button, action button. Tactile response checked, stuck or worn switches replaced.
Software & activation
Factory reset, latest OS version, activation lock cleared, MDM removed, certified clean of previous owner data.
Cosmetic inspection
Front, back, edges and screen examined under bright light. Marks documented. This is what determines the grade.
The five grades
What each grade actually means
All grades pass the inspection above. All carry the same 12-month warranty. The grade only tells you what the device looks like.
New
Brand new in sealed packaging
Sealed by the manufacturer, never opened, never used. Full original packaging, accessories and warranty paperwork. As-new in every respect.
Sealed box, full accessories
No marks, no wear of any kind
Full manufacturer warranty plus our 12-month cover
Highest price band — same as brick-and-mortar retail
Grade A+
Pristine — looks and feels new
Indistinguishable from new in everyday use. The device passed through a process that means it can’t be sold as new — opened packaging, brief shop demo, returned-but-unused, factory refurbished by the manufacturer — but cosmetically and functionally it’s as good as new.
No visible cosmetic marks of any kind
Often original packaging, sometimes our own packaging
Sources: Open Box, Ex-Demo, Factory Refurbished, manufacturer returns
Typically 10–20% off new
Grade A
Excellent — minor marks, very close to perfect
Our most common grade and the best balance of price and condition. Possible faint cosmetic marks — small scuffs, light surface scratches, faint edge wear — only noticeable on close inspection under bright light. From a normal viewing distance the device looks new.
Light surface marks possible but not obvious
Screen and casing free of cracks, dents or major damage
Full functional performance with same 12-month warranty
Typically 30–40% off new
Grade B
Good — visible signs of use
Clearly used. Scratches, nicks or wear on the casing visible from arm’s length. Screen and frame remain solid and functional. The biggest discount available on refurbished stock and a smart pick if you care more about price than appearance.
Visible scratches, scuffs or marks on body or back glass
No screen cracks, no significant dents
Full functional performance with same 12-month warranty
Typically 40–55% off new
Grade C
Fair — heavy signs of use
Heavily used cosmetically. Significant scratches, dents, edge wear or marks visible across the device. Fully functional and warranted — cosmetic only. Our lowest price when available and ideal if you’re putting it in a case anyway.
Heavy cosmetic wear — clear scratches, dents possible
No screen cracks that affect display or touch
Full functional performance with same 12-month warranty
Typically 50–65% off new
Buying guide
Which grade should I buy?
All grades work the same. Pick based on what matters most to you.
Want it to look new? Pick A+
If the device is going to be visible (your daily phone, your work laptop in meetings) and you want zero compromises on appearance, Grade A+ is the sweet spot. Practically indistinguishable from new at a real discount.
Best value? Pick A
Our most common grade and the smartest spend. Looks essentially new in normal use, costs significantly less than A+. The grade we buy ourselves.
Casing it up? Consider B
If the device is going straight into a case or sleeve, you’ll never see the cosmetic marks anyway. Grade B is a fully functional device at a real discount — just don’t expect to wow anyone with how it looks.
Budget the priority? Pick C
Same performance, same warranty, biggest discount. Looks visibly used but works perfectly. Ideal for kids’ devices, second-line work kit, or a stop-gap while saving for the device you really want.
Our promise
We don’t play games with grade names.
Plenty of refurbished sellers call their lowest grade “Good” because it tests better on conversion. We don’t. If something is Grade C, we call it Grade C. The grade is on every product page, the photos show the actual stock condition, and the description is honest.
That’s how we’ve sold refurbished tech for 15+ years to 3,500+ Irish customers on Trustpilot and we’re not changing it. You should know what you’re buying before you click Add to Cart, not after the box arrives.
Common questions
About grading
Does a lower grade mean worse performance?
No. Every grade passes the same 40-point inspection. Battery, display, processor, ports, cameras, speakers — all tested to the same standard. The grade is purely about how the device looks.
Is the warranty different by grade?
No. Every grade gets the same 12-month warranty. If something fails during that period, we replace or refund regardless of whether you bought a Grade A+ or Grade C.
Will the photos on the product page show the actual stock condition?
The main product photos are typically representative shots of the model. For Grade B and C devices, we’ll often include an additional photo showing the actual cosmetic condition you’ll receive. If in doubt, ask — we can WhatsApp you a photo of the specific unit before you order.
What if my device looks worse than the grade suggests?
Then it doesn’t meet our grading standard and we want it back. Return it within 14 days for a full refund — we’ll cover return postage. We’ve graded thousands of devices but if we ever get one wrong, we make it right.
What’s the difference between Grade A+ Ex-Demo and Grade A+ Factory Refurbished?
From your perspective: nothing. Both are cosmetically pristine and fully tested. Internally they have different sources — Ex-Demo was briefly used in a shop display, Factory Refurbished came back to the manufacturer and was checked over — but the end-state is the same. We grade both as Grade A+ because that’s what you’ll experience.
Do all categories have all grades available?
No. Some products are only available in one or two grades depending on what supply we have. The condition pill on each product page shows the grades actually available for that specific device.
Can I upgrade to a higher grade after buying?
Yes — within 14 days. Bring it back, pay the difference, take the higher-graded device home. No restocking fees.
Do Trade-ins follow the same grading?
Yes — if you’re trading in a device, we’ll inspect and grade it on the spot using the same criteria. Then we’ll quote part-exchange based on what we’ll be able to sell it for.
